Transportation
Interstate 95 and Route 1 are major North/South arteries through the 23rd District. Small issues can back up traffic for miles. Major incidents such as the 2022 storm which shut down I-95 for more than 24 hours now regularly spill over onto most of our secondary roads. As your Delegate, I will re-examine the needs of our region and how traffic studies are conducted, and find solutions that are effective and fiscally responsible.
Broadband Internet
Even in Stafford and Prince William, there are still people who lack access to broadband, high-speed internet. This doesn’t just affect adults – today, students primarily rely on digital lessons and education aids. Building partnerships to address this inequity builds stronger communities, and will be one of my top priorities.
Education
Education is the first legacy we leave our children. That’s why it’s so important to ensure that every child who leaves Virginia’s public schools has the education and experience they need to succeed. For our children to learn, they must be in school and receive a quality education or career and technical programing. Ensure students, faculty and staff are safe in our schoolhouses.
Public Safety
As a retired deputy sheriff, I stand behind our law enforcement officers who risk their lives for us every day. Safe communities are a big part of what makes Virginia a great place to live and raise a family. I will work to ensure that law enforcement has the tools, resources, and support they need to do their incredibly difficult job. I will also ensure we are building cross cultural understanding between our law enforcement agencies and the community to establish meaningful relationships. Just as importantly, I will work to secure Funding, Training and Tools for our Community Services Boards to equitably address our community’s dual opioid and mental health crises, including diversion from incarceration where appropriate.
Veterans
The 23rd district is home to many veterans, because of its proximity to Fort Belvoir and Marine Corps Base Quantico. As a Marine Corps Veteran, I will fight for tax relief, better healthcare and economic opportunities for the brave men and women who have served our Nation.
